Xmas sales break record @ £77,000/second

Britain retailers are enjoying record sales of at least £4.6 million per minute or £77,000 per second; the records were all broken during the Christmas and Boxing Day period of 2011. It has been predicted that the post Christmas sales will beat the pre Christmas sales rush. The numbers of shoppers on Boxing Day were 21.5% higher when compared to 2010. Consumers are expected to spend at least £22.8 billion by the third week of January 2012. This figure represents a £338 million increase than post Christmas period last year.
